Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC):
Development: Software development involves translation of the
business requirement specification to lines of code which will
meet business needs. This phase is dedicated to the coding
efforts by the Development Team (and if necessary DBA Team).
The developers write the software code based on the business
requirement specification, use case model, and design models.
Integration & Test: This phase involves performing thorough
testing of existing & new system functionality, regression,
database and performance evaluation of the software code. QA
Analysts are also responsible for validating business rules.
Manual and Automation testing are used in the testing effort. Any
new bugs or regression bugs found during the testing phase is
reported to the development and business analyst teams.
Deployment: After the user sign-off has been received the
software code is ready for production deployment. Build
Coordinator deploys the build (or Binaries) into production using
build tools. Release Package summarizes the changes which
are being deployed to production and circulated among Business
and IT users.
Maintenance: Software invariable undergoes changes once it is
promoted to production. This is due to appearance of existing
bugs which were not found during testing phase, requests for
enhancement from user community, and performance
enhancement of existing code. Any change which is found during
post implementation period must go through change
management and prioritization schedules before it can be build to
production.
